Many people bring past expectations and experiences into their present relationships and this may lead to feelings of being misunderstood, unheard, and of loneliness. You might need to find a new balance after a time of crisis, or perhaps rekindle the spark in a good relationship that no longer feels quite right. You might be aware of repeating arguments and a sense of “here we go again” with no resolution, or beginning to see repeating patterns emerge but not be sure how to change. These are just a few of the many reasons people decide to seek counselling.

I endeavour to create a warm, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship where we can focus on you and your situation. I will work with you to find an understanding of your concerns, your deeper needs and how they are affecting your relationships.

When you start the counselling process, I will be aiming to understand as much as possible about the perspectives of each member of the couple.

My intention will be that each person feels heard and given equal space to express their thoughts and feelings.

Another part of my role is to facilitate good communication between you and your partner and also to help you understand your situation as fully as possible. To that end, at times, I will highlight and reflect back important points that are made and also invite further exploration of potentially significant areas.

My Approach

A key priority for me is to create a safe and supportive environment where you feel secure and confident to express your thoughts and feelings as openly and honestly as possible. I will also be seeking to understand the influences and back story of each person and how these impact on the couple relationship. In doing so, I will invite each person to expand their own self-awareness and interest in their partner’s internal world.Make it stand out

Sessions last for 50 minutes and I can work with you either in person in Wells or via ZOOM. Sessions are normally held weekly but where this is impractical because of your circumstances then an alternative arrangement can be discussed and agreed. We will agree an agenda for the work at the start of your counselling and review this regularly to ensure that your requirements are met.

I am available for sessions Monday to Friday from early mornings through to the evenings (8 am to 7:30 pm).
